The public has spoken and Angela Ruggiero is getting a shot at a job with Donald Trump.
Angela who?
Ruggiero is an Olympic gold medalist and a three-time member of the U.S. women's ice hockey team who was selected by visitors of NBCOlympics.com to be part of the sixth cycle of "The Apprentice."
Ruggiero was selected from a dozen Olympians posted by NBC in February and voted on by the public during the Olympics.
"It's an honor to have been selected by America," Ruggiero said in a statement. "I'll definitely be bringing my Olympic spirit and competitive edge to the game."
Given the competition in some of the past "Apprentice" cycles, the Harvard grad might also need a few hipchecks and high sticks, too.
It's the first time the show has relied on stunt-casting of any sort and it will occur on the first edition of the show to be shot outside of New York. When "The Apprentice" returns next January, the show will be set in Los Angeles, with Trump & Co. setting up shop out there.
"We'll see if Angela can ice the competition as we take the boardroom to the West Coast," Trump said in a statement.
Trump and executive producer Mark Burnett will get a taste of doing the show from Los Angeles on Monday when they stage the fifth cycle finale from the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles. It will air live at 9:30 p.m.
The finale was moved to Los Angeles to accommodate the start of production on the sixth cycle, Trump told the Daily News recently.
And, he said then, there could be other non-New York locations for the show, too, such as Las Vegas, Miami and Chicago.
